Volunteer help sought for Elders Olympics - Friday 23 March at Bargo

We are looking for some volunteer assistance and resources for the
Elders Olympics.

We do not have a budget to be able to 'buy-in' this assistance, so I was
hoping that some of you might be willing to lend a hand.

Can you please pass this message on to anyone who might be able to help.

If people could contact Gay directly as soon as possible, that would be
great.

The Inaugural Elders Olympics will be held at Bargo Sports Ground.

This event is primarily for Aboriginal Elders and has attracted lot of
interest across the Macarthur Region. 8 or 10 teams will be competing
representing Wollondilly, Wingecarribee, Camden and Campbelltown LGA's.

Participants will compete in a range of passive activities, with the winning team beginning awarded a very nice looking trophy which will begiven to their Council for display and safe keeping.

The purpose of this event is two fold

1. Increase the Elders physical activity, each team is involved in re event training
2. Allow for a culturally appropriate social gathering

This project is being facilitated by a working party under the auspice of Macarthur Disability Services. I have been involved in this working party since its inception. Council has provided a community grant to MDS to support this event.

Each working party member has taken a number of tasks.

My role centres on set up and organisation of the venue. I will need assistance with a number of items

1. Erecting and dismantling of 15 -20 pop up type marquees between
8 & 9AM and takeaway after 2PM. Trailer to be brought from deport
containing community service marquees.
2. Barricading minor hazards
3. Use of "witches" hats for marking and layout of events
4. Provision of waste bins and removal of waste ( this should be minimal and reusable drink bottles are provided)

I would appreciate your support to facilitate these tasks

Regards
