Tell the 4 big banks you’re fed up with them and looking for a better deal

The big four banks are hiking up interest rates and sacking thousands of workers in the name of “saving costs” while they post record billion-dollar profits. Join Choice's campaign to tell the big banks you’re fed up with them taking customers for granted -- and that you’re looking for a better deal.

They're raking in vast profits at the expense of everyday people. Westpac, NAB, ANZ and the Commonwealth Bank are hiking up interest rates -- out of step with the Reserve Bank rate, and ignoring outcry from government and consumers [1].

These are the same "gang of four" banks that are sacking thousands of workers, paying top executives millions in wage bonuses, and that have been repeatedly criticised in the media for "gouging" customers [2]. Now, they're hitting customers with an "unnecessary" rate rise so they can keep making record billion-dollar profits.

Government ministers and the RBA have failed to stop the big banks from hiking up rates -- so people’s watchdog Choice has just launched a campaign on Change.org to show that thousands of Australians won't let them get away with it.

Choice is calling on thousands of consumers to sign their "move your money" pledge -- sending the banks a message in the only language they understand. If thousands of customers say they'll start looking elsewhere, the banks will finally see the consequences of taking their customers for granted.

During the global financial crisis the government supported the banks with a multi-billion dollar guarantee -- in return, they seem fixed on turning huge profits, paying out to wealthy executives rather than everyday Australians, and securing their stranglehold over the nation’s finances. In fact, the major banks are now making more profit than ever before [3].

But if enough consumers start voting with their feet, joining Choice’s "move your money" campaign -- it’ll force banks like NAB and Westpac to sit up and take notice. Imagine the executives’ faces when tens of thousands of messages flood their inboxes telling them that they’re looking for a better bank!

Click here to sign people’s watchdog Choice’s petition on Change.org telling the big banks to stop delivering unfair interest rate hikes, and that you’re looking around for a better deal.

We’ve seen this work before -- when Change.org users spoke out about unfair fees at the world’s largest bank, Bank of America, it forced them to back down and change their policies.

Everyday consumers are using Change.org to hold powerful companies to account -- and it’s working. Today, there’s an opportunity to win extraordinary change for consumers fighting big banks' interest rate increases, sign here.

Thanks for being involved,

Nathan and the Change.org team.
