Refugee Action Collective (Victoria) has called an emergency action for Saturday, November 19 (today) for 11am at Federation Square. The protest has been called in response to the threat the a Hazara man will be deported to Afghanistan.
On Friday, an injunction from the Federal Magistrate's court has temporarily suspended the deportation. Refugee activists will be demanding the deportation be terminated completely.
"It's a win for us but it's a temporary win," Ian Rintoul from the Refugee Action Coalition said on Friday. The Refugee Action Coalition is RAC's sister organisation based in Sydney, NSW.
