Indigenous Social Justice Association – Melbourne and Radical Women invite you to a
Media Skills Workshop for Activists
Do you want to use the mainstream and community media more effectively to promote social change? Not sure how to pitch a news release? Don’t want to get tripped up by a shock jock? Want to inspire listeners to community radio to take action? This workshop is for you.
Movement media veterans Marisa Sposaro and Alison Thorne will present an interactive workshop designed to help everyone, from complete novices to experienced operators, sharpen their skills.
Marisa Sposaro, a radio presenter with community radio 3CR, has a successful track record campaigning for reproductive justice, standing up for political prisoners, and organising to advance disability rights and protect the environment.
Alison Thorne, the managing editor of the Freedom Socialist Organiser, has used the media to advance the struggle for equal pay and queer rights, to mobilise against fascists and to build a movement to stop Aboriginal deaths in custody.
Saturday, 17 September, 1 pm – 5 pm
Solidarity Salon, 580 Sydney Road, Brunswick
Workshop fee: $20 full waged or $10 concession and for Radical Women
or ISJA members. Proceeds will benefit the work of the host organisations.
