Goodooga, northwest NSW, 30 March - - An Aboriginal leader convening a summit at Easter argues that Australia’s desire to be the last bastion for the Aryan race, as was stated at Federation in 1901, continues to drive Australian governments of all political persuasions. Michael Anderson, the last survivor of the four 1972 founders of the Aboriginal embassy in Canberra and leader of the 3,000 Euahlayi, says in a media release that the New Way Sovereignty Summit in Canberra will challenge Australia’s application for a seat on the United Nations Security Council.
“Australia does not have the right to be nominated, let alone have a seat there. How can a colonial state of England have such a right? We will make every effort to lobby against Australia getting nominated.”

Mr Anderson says information has recently come to light showing that Robert Menzies, prime minister from 1939 to 1941 and 1949 to 1966, was a Nazi sympathizer.
“I now understand more than ever about white Australia’s political, socio-economic and cultural ambitions. The fight ahead is greater than expected. This struggle between the first illegal boat people and us has grown into one of racial purity and intolerance of difference.”
Menzies was greatly admired by former Prime Minister John Howard, Mr Anderson writes, “and it is this type of political conservatism that keeps getting elected into the Australian parliament.
“We must remember, Australia is the only country that fights the United Nations for its right to NOT have any human rights laws on its books. Australia is also the only country with a special clause in its constitution that it can use at any time to deal with and make special laws for any race it deems necessary. They use this section against us all the time.”
The racism in Australian society and political structures continues to this day with a consistency of thought and practice, Mr Anderson writes. He alleges that “white supremacists” control the media and the law courts.
Mr Anderson’s statement in full:
I now understand more than ever about white Australia’s political, socio-economic and cultural ambitions. Information that has recently come to light needs to be known by our Aboriginal peoples and nations across this country, as the fight ahead is greater than expected. This struggle between the first illegal boat people and us has grown into one of racial purity and intolerance of difference.
I have learnt that the former Prime Minister Robert Menzies* was a Nazi sympathizer along with a number of his British confidantes. In the Book “The Last Bastion” author, Kristin Williamson, states that Lloyd George, a member of the British Parliament, said to Menzies that he admired Hitler as “a great leader”, a statement shared by Menzies, who travelled to Germany in 1938. Lloyd George furthered his admiration of Hitler to Menzies saying that “Hitler has a magnetic, dynamic personality with a single minded purpose”. Part of Menzies’ admiration of Hitler was due to his seeing him as the only one brave enough to stand up against ‘Bolshevism’.
The Lloyd George group sought to have Menzies put into the British parliament as a Tory because they wanted to make a peace pact with Hitler. It seems the George group were orchestrating an overthrow of Churchill but needed Menzies as he was the only one prepared to stand up to Churchill.
So some would ask, what does this have to do with the current situation in Aboriginal affairs? Interestingly enough all files about Menzies’ trip to Germany during the Nazi regime and departmental papers of the trip are still locked away under strict security.
As an Aboriginal person of a race of people continually persecuted by the state, I am alarmed and concerned that Australia’s desire to be the last bastion for the Aryan race, as was stated at Federation, continues to drive Australian governments of all political persuasions to this day.
When speaking to Australia’s Immigration Restriction Bill on August 7, 1901, Australia’s first prime minister, Edmund Barton, quoted from Professor Charles Henry Pearson’s book, National Life and Character: A Forecast: “The fear of Chinese immigration which the Australian democracy cherishes….is in fact, the instinct of self-preservation, quickened by experience…..We are guarding the last part of the world in which the higher races can live and increase freely for the higher civilization. The day will come when European observers will look around the globe girdled with a continuous zone of yellow and black races. It is idle to say that if all this should come to pass our pride and place will not be humiliated. We are struggling among ourselves for supremacy in a world which we thought of as destined to belong to the Aryan race, and to the Christian faith, to the letters of the arts and charms which we have inherited from the best of time.”
Menzies was greatly admired by Australia’s former Prime Minister John Howard and it is this type of political conservatism that keeps getting elected into the Australian parliament. We must remember, Australia is the only country that fights the United Nations for its right to NOT have any human rights laws on its books. Australia is also the only country with a special clause in its constitution that it can use at any time to deal with and make special laws for any race it deems necessary. They use this section against us all the time.
Consider the growing racial tension that is emerging in this country and the fact that the Australian government continues to say to the international community that the racist assaults and public abuse of ethnic minorities by the racists, along with the radio back chat programs that encourage racists’ propaganda, while other countries, including Germany, have laws that prevent racial incitement and racial incitement through the media. Australia excuses it by arguing the right to freedom of speech and expression. This is not acceptable.
On these issues we only have to cast our eyes back a little to when South Africa become liberated from the Apartheid regime. The white racist elements immigrated to Australia, which become known as the ‘chicken run’; then later John Howard came to the aid of the white racists from Zimbabwe, calling them to immigrate to Australia and fast-tracking their visa approvals. They would never do this for any of the boat people.
The racism in Australian society and political structures continues to this day with a consistency of thought and practice.
The continuity of racial supremacy thoughts by the Australian government, spurred on by the influential pockets of conservative white supremacists, is of major concern. They have control of the media and the law courts; no wonder Australia can be excluded from having to conform to the rest of the world on human rights.
The New Way Sovereignty Summit at Easter will challenge Australia’s application for a seat on the United Nations Security Council. Australia does not have the right to be nominated, let alone have a seat there. How can a colonial state of England have such a right? We will make every effort to lobby against Australia getting nominated.
If Australia’s ambition is not to be the last bastion for the Aryan race, then they need to open the Menzies files for all to scrutinise. They need to legislate for the protection of human rights in this country, which must include domestic penalties for inciting racial conflict and acts of racism and discrimination. They must alter the constitution to repeal the race powers but, more importantly, they must acknowledge the state’s ambition to destroy ‘Aboriginality’. They must admit and teach about the violent colonial wars against Aboriginal people across this country. This must become part of the nation’s history curriculum. If Germany can make its Nazi history compulsory teaching in schools then it is good enough for this country.
If Australia thinks it has not done anything wrong against Aboriginal people, then why does the New South Wales constitution, in recognising Aborigines as the first Nations and Peoples, have the need to indemnify the state against prosecution for its past policies and administration of racist and oppressive laws against Aboriginal people? This indemnity clause is an absolute joke and those Aborigines who worked with the state government on this need to be identified, for they are nothing but traitors to our people and should never be forgotten as such by our future generations.
It is now time for all people who call themselves Australians to demand that the government commence the liberation process to become an independent republic nation state and thereby legitimately take its place amongst the world’s other nation states.
To become an independent nation we need to demand the immediate commencement of treaty negotiations between England and Australia and our people. We cannot let the white conservatives dictate to the government so that they can continue to grow wealthy from our minerals, petroleum and gas. For the non-Aborigines who have similar thoughts, it is now time for all of us to make an immediate stand together so that we can have a united country.

Equal rule by women and men the only solution
Michael Anderson's polemic ignores the cause of racism. If women and men
achieve equality all demographics comprised of women and men achieve
equality, including race, religion and socioeconomic status.
Most Australians have long since moved on from the primitive culture of
wretched paternalism which washed up on the shores of the continent two
centuries ago, into which Mr Anderson delves, having almost entirely
assimilated into the indigenous tradition of equitable governance between
women and men as acknowledged, for instance, by the Federal Court in the
Hindmarsh Island bridge controversy, as well as ethnographic studies, as
with Diane Bell's seminal 'Daughters of
the Dreaming' (1983) and by indigenous peoples themselves with the view, for
instance, that 'the men never used to boss over the women, the women were
their own bosses' (circa 1980s) or the acknowledgement of a heritage of
matrilineage by indigenous women as with Professor Larissa Behrendt.
Australians have overwhelmingly decided by democratic process on many
occasions with the progressive achievement of equality between women and men
that it is themselves who need to change their behaviour, that taking
personal responsibility for their own actions rather than blaming the
victim, is the way forward.
There remains reform of the instruments of governance which would have
particular impact in contact with traditional communities. Reform of the
nation's federal and state constitutions to provide for governance by
agreement between women's and men's legislatures, courts and corporate
committees, a prerequisite for the the negotiation of a treaty, would
promote genuine dialogue. There is no other enduring solution.
politicians still wedded to the ethos of a white australia
michael has once more succinctly put the ongoing argument of australian governments, slavish adherence to their much beloved 'white-australia-policy' that the whitlam government thought they had removed back in 1972.
whilst it is perhaps easy to change some words it is, as we know, much harder to kill off ideas and dreams. ideas and dreams that linger still in many of our politicians who are still wedded to the ethos of a white australia, but especially within our federal opposition.
menzies, or 'pig-iron bob' as he was better known for his avid preference of selling scrap iron to the japanese, pre-1939, the better to fuel their war empire in china and mongolia, did indeed admire hitler's rule in germany, pre-war.
he especially admired hitler's treatment of disbanding the trade unions, his 'dealing' with members of the german communist party and his ability to make the trains run on time. of course his view soured somewhat when britain went to war, hence, to use his words, 'australia is, as a consequence, also at war with germany'.
i don't agree with many wars but the fight then against fascism needed to be fought and won, very much as is still necessary today to fight the racist fascism of our governments here in australia. that the white racist fascism is as much alive today as it was back in 1900/01 is easily proven by the governments of hawke, keating, howard, rudd and gillard and their racially harsh and ignorant treatment of not only aborigines and torres strait islanders but also that meted out to our asylum seekers and their children. i continue to say that the government policy on asylum seekers is most definitely not done in my name.
the 4th new way summit is to be held over easter in canberra and i urge all people of good social conscience to attend at least one day of the three days to hear the real community voices of aboriginal people from the real communities that are affected every day by the supremacist and assimilations policies of governments, including the 73 communities in the nt that suffer under the racist yoke of the federal intervention. i believe hitler would have been proud to associate himself with that racially fascist operation.
as the descendants of the traditional owners we continue to strive for our rights, that includes our lands, waterways and seas and the resources therein, our culture, sovereignty, treaties and social justice that is ours by birthright.
the aboriginal summits is working towards that goal. come join us and make it happen.
