Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia – The Cycle Strongman Expedition (CSX) recently rolled into Darwin completing the first leg of Chris Roach’s “adventure of a lifetime”1 - to complete a solo, unassisted and continuous circumnavigation of the planet on a humble bicycle.
During this time Chris dodged floods along the east coast, covered the “Best Job in the World” media event, captured never before filmed 1000 year old ancient aboriginal cave art, waded through crocodile infested creeks and tackled 800km of tough sandy gravel roads along one of the most remote 4WD tracks in the world - the Savannah Way.
Chris comments on his experiences cycling to Darwin reflecting on “the kindness of strangers as well as being awestruck by the ancient landscapes and vastness of Australia’s remote north.”
Chris recently spoke of this journey describing it as a both “an expedition and personal milestone.” Having tried, tested and proven his bicycle setup, Chris remarked how he felt confident to take on the rest of the world.

In March 2009 Chris Roach rode a bicycle from his Newcastle home to embark on “an adventure of a lifetime”1 that may leave him bruised, inspired, influential and possibly (and happily) penniless. He estimates it will be eight years before he completes a 75,000-kilometre circumnavigation of the globe on the back of his trusty bicycle.
