Â
We’re working hard to ensure that members of Victoria’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) communities are fully informed about issues that matter to them ahead of polling day on 7 September.
Â
Your Lobby has partnered with LGBTI organisations from around Australia to submit a LGBTI 2013 national survey to the three major political parties. Covering 12 topics and 42 questions, ranging from ageing and education to HIV/AIDS, marriage equality and discrimination laws, the results of the survey will be released next week ahead of a community forum on 31 August.
Â
You’re invited to our LGBTI 2013 Election Forum Â
Â
Together with our friends at Transgender Victoria and Organisation Intersex International (Australia) we’d like you to join us for an afternoon of political discussion and debate at DnM Bar in Prahran.
Â
Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus representing the ALP, Coalition MP Kelly O'Dwyer and Greens Deputy Leader Adam Bandt will take to the stage to state their respective parties' positions on LGBTI issues and respond to the community's questions.
Â
And we’re excited to announce that the forum will be moderated by young gay comedian Toby Halligan.
We want to make sure that you, the community, can ask our three politicians questions about issues of concern to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people. To submit a question to ask one of our panelists, visit: www.vglrl.org.au/lgbti2013
Can’t make it on the day?
You can still submit a question to the party representatives.
And our favourite gay and lesbian community radio station JOY 94.9 will also be recording the event.
We hope to see you there!
