Help us stamp out excessive credit card surcharges.

CHOICE has set the clock ticking on excessive credit card surcharges, with new Reserve Bank reforms coming into effect last Monday.

More than 4,000 Australians have already signed our petition calling on Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Australia, Tiger Airways and Cabcharge to end their inflated and unreasonable surcharges.

But we think the worst offenders are flouting the new rules and, in some cases, insisting their hefty credit card fees aren't even surcharges.¹

This delay is costing consumers millions in over-the-top credit card fees.

We need you to take action

Sign our petition now

Or if you already have, share it with five of your friends.

We'll use the petition to demonstrate how sick and tired the community is of excessive fees.

CHOICE is challenging global technology giants Adobe, Apple and Microsoft to explain their pricing to Australian consumers at today's Federal Parliamentary inquiry into IT pricing.

The inquiry is looking at why Australians are paying about 50% more for software and hardware, and has received CHOICE research looking at the prices of over 200 products.

Check out our new infographic explaining international price discrimination and watch today's hearings live.

Do you know your rights as a consumer?

Do you know your rights as a consumer?

Have you been told by a retailer that the faulty product they sold you "wasn't their problem"? Have you had a refund refused because you didn't have the original packaging?

Last Friday was World Consumer Rights Day and we're celebrating by calling on all our supporters to finally return that product they've been meaning to take back.

To help, we've created this easy-to-use reference card for your wallet. Just visit our website, download and print the PDF and you'll know your consumer rights - wherever you are.

Thank you,
Matt Levey, Head of Campaigns

¹ For example, a recent SMH article reported that "Jetstar acknowledged it no longer had a credit card surcharge, just a booking and service fee." Jetstar went on to say it would "study" new surcharge restrictions placed on credit card companies by the RBA and "determine whether changes were necessary".
