International Human Rights Day 2013
Demand justice for the Yamatji duo
and all victims of human rights abuses
Come to a speak out against
racist and sexist double standards
in the legal system

The Yamatji community is appealing for all who rage against the double standards that permeate the legal system to support their fight for justice after the death of two-well loved members of the community in a hit and run in Geraldton. A drunk driver who fled the scene, struck and killed the forty-year old man and woman. Seven children are now grieving the loss of their mother. The young white driver was bailed without being charged with dangerous driving. The comparison with the treatment of respected Aboriginal elder, Mr Ward, is stark. Being over the limit while in charge of the car, but harming no one, led to him being refused bail and jailed. A day later he died in the custody of private prison contractor, G4S.

Speak out in support of the Yamatji community! Speak out to demand justice for Mr Ward, TJ Hickey and all who have died in police and prison custody! Speak out against mandatory detention of refugees and the prison camps on Nauru and Manus Island! Speak out against racist over-policing and the death of Michael Atakett in Footscray! Speak out against draconian anti-bikie laws! Speak out to demand freedom for Chelsea Manning, Marissa Alexander, Leonard Peltier, Lynne Stewart, Wu Guijun, Somyot, Mumia Abu-Jamal and all political prisoners! Speak out to lift the political gag on Lex Wotton! Speak out against the use of tasers and capsicum spray! Speak out against plans to reintroduce the Australian Building and Construction Commission! Speak out against involuntary mental health care! SPEAK OUT!
