The words 'health care' and 'comedy' aren't usually found in the same sentence, but in film-maker Michael Moore's new movie, SiCKO, they go together hand in (rubber) glove.
SiCKO is a straight-from-the-heart portrait of the crazy and sometimes cruel US health-care system, told from the vantage point of everyday people faced with the challenge of the profit-based US health-care system in their quest for treatment.
SiCKO uses humour to tell these compelling and often heartrending stories, leading the audience to conclude that an alternative system is the only possible answer.
With Australia's Li-Lab leaders inexorably pushing us towards a US-style privatised health system, SiCKO teaches us that we should fight to defend the idea that health-care is a basic human right, not a profit-making opportunity.
