“Death of Democracy” March through the streets of Wonthaggi – Marking two years since the announcement that the desalination plant would be built in Wonthaggi, Watershed Victoria has organised a “Death Of Democracy” march through the town, celebrating the strength of the campaign and demonstrating our continued opposition to the project.
“No-one in Victoria voted for the most expensive solution to supplying water to Melbourne. We should have a say over a decision which will cost not only the local community, but also every resident in Melbourne. Future generations will ask us why they are in debt to a multinational company for water, a basic human need, when there are cheaper and more sustainable alternatives.”
A coffin carrying the words “Death of Democracy” will be transported through the streets by mourners, who will march to Apex Park for a wake, songs of resistance, speakers and a BBQ. Laying of a wreath on the steps of the DSE office will take place on the way.
Prizes for kids activities – see if you can throw a targeted wet sponge at the Minister for Wasting Water !
