The historic Glebe Post Office is going to be shut down for good in just a few weeks....unless the community says NO.
Australia Post has announced 27 post office closures around the country claiming many are no longer “profitable”.
Thousands of pensioners and people with disabilities will be affected by the decision to close Glebe Post Office.
Since when does a government owned community service organisation need to be "profitable"?
In any case shouldn't there be cross subsidization - the profitable post offices pay for the smaller ones?
Australia Post made a profit of $100 million last year so how can they justify closures.
People living in the federal electorate of Sydney should write immediately to the local member Tanya Plibersek and demand that the federal government intervene to stop the shut down.

Re: Don’t let them shut Glebe or Turramurra Post Office
Our post office may not have historical value but the service has been there for over 100 years - we have 18,000 new residences built or in the process but apparently our post office is also unprofitable. Just not good enough! got to be a way to keep theses services running!
Re: Don’t let them shut Glebe Post Office
SOMETHING STINKS ABOUT THIS, POST OFFICES ARE IMPORTANT & MORE ENVIROMENTAL THAN COMPUTERS, ESPECIALLY WHEN AUSTRALIA POST MADE A PROFIT OF OVER $100 000 000 LAST YEAR, SOMETHING VERY FISHY & CORRUPT IS GOING ON HERE.
