The new Parliament is an amazing opportunity for GetUp members to make a difference: everything is on the table, and every law could live or die in parliamentary debate. The Prime Minister may be the same but this Parliament is going to be very, very different.

Thanks in no small part to your campaigning, reforms announced this week will mean more Parliamentary debate. As the people's house, there is an enormous opportunity for us to influence its outcomes -- far more so then when policy is made behind closed doors.

What's more, we've had a huge victory with the announcement of political donations reform that will reduce the power of vested interest as we move towards the public funding of election campaigns.

We could be entering a new era of openness and debate. We don't know how it will pan out, but one thing is clear: everything is on the table.

In this context we have some important decisions to make - and we need to make them together. Can you help by answering a few questions on our next steps?

What issues are most important to you - is it a price on polluion, same-sex marriage, indigenous rights? Or maybe you have a campaign idea we haven't thought of yet... Where should we begin?

Do you want to see GetUp work with the independents to push through democratic reforms to political donations? Shall we follow the success of our High Court and Federal Court challenges and pursue legal advocacy? Or perhaps you'd like to take on more corporate campaigns, focusing on banks and energy companies?
