Forget ISIS, Saudi Arabia routinely Beheads People

83 people have been beheaded in Saudi Arabia in 2014, the highest number in five years.

Most were executed for non violent offences including drug smuggling.

Amnesty International says Saudi Arabia has one of the highest execution rates in the world.

There were 79 executions in 2013 and 2012, and 82 in 2011.

The countries that carried out the most executions on record last year were Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the U.S.

China is thought to kill thousands but the figure is a state secret.

Saudi Arabia is one of approximately thirty countries in the world with judicial corporal punishment.

In Saudi Arabia's case this includes amputations of hands and feet for robbery, and flogging for lesser crimes such as "sexual deviance" and drunkenness.

While the international media focuses on ISIS atrocities Saudi Arabia carries out "legal" beheadings on a weekly basis.

Saudi Arabia is a key ally and friend of the U.S. and as a result receives very little criticism.

Comments

Iran hanged some 600 people mostly in public squares during 2014 for a variety of violent and non-violent crimes, moral crimes, enemies of Allah, insulting Muhammad, etc. Hundreds of people cheer as they watch the public hangings from cranes.
