Save the Kimberley solidarity protest

Date and Time:
Wednesday, May 16, 2012 -
5:15pm to 6:15pm
Location:
Outside BP head office (Tower, Melbourne Central, 360 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne),

We have received Reports of more than 100 police arriving in Broome, their intentions look to be to crush the Broome community’s peaceful protest and dismantle all blockade capabilities. They have warned the blockade camp that they must be gone by Wednesday. We need as many people as possible to show our support for those blockading, and send a message to police and Joint Venture Partners that brutality and intimidation will not discourage us, it will only make us stronger.

We will be holding a candle light vigil, including footage and images of previous brutality used on Kimberley protectors as well as Joint Venture partner Logo’s to shame them into withdrawing support for such behavior.

Please let me know if you are able to attend and spread the word like wild fire! (there will also be actions held in Perth and Sydney, more information to come)

What to bring: Candle, black/dark clothing. (if you have police uniform please bring)

This police presence smacks of the 'Bijelke Peterson' era in Queensland! Shame on you for the bully-boy tactics!!!
