On March 23, Amnesty International launched the Arms Trade Treaty Campaign. We need as many people in Australia and worldwide to help secure a strong Arms Trade Treaty with human rights protection at its core at the UN Negotiating Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty in New York this July.

As part of the 100 days of global action, Amnesty International is delighted to present a free film screening of Armes, trafic et raison d’Etat (‘Weapons and Traffic by the State’). This documentary is one of our key videos for the campaign and follows Amnesty International as they monitor, research, analyse and expose how arms transfers fuel violence and human rights abuse. The film includes analysis of Democratic Republic of Congo where interlocking conflicts have resulted in widespread human rights violations, sometimes amounting to war crimes, including killings, mass rape and the use of child soldiers.

Bring your friends, family and colleagues, and help Amnesty International educate our communities about the need for an Arms Trade Treaty.

Please RSVP by April 8 2012 to vicintern@amnesty.org.au
