4 Years since Mal Brough's lies that saw the military brought to shock and awe indigenous communties in the NT, the government has compulsorily acquired tribal lands, suspended the Racial Discrimination Act, enforced black and white apartheid lines at supermarkets, reinstated the Racial Discrimination Act but continued these aspects of the Intervention as special measures.
As the Rudd government apologised for centuries of oppre...ssion, fellow Indigenous workers working for $4/hour plus basics card alongside unionised, award waged construction workers sought out support from unions and community throughout Australia. Thousands of jobs have been cut such as bilingual teachers in the NT that have been made redundant because of bans on aboriginal languages in schools.
Waste dumps at Muckaty are being pushed through, services to outlying communities are being cut and people forced to migrate to urban hubs where business communties demand a second intervention and that they be locked up. While Government Business Managers cream hundreds of thousands of dollars of the Indigenous budget, Navi Pillay, the second rights commissioner from the UN to tour the NT and denounce the Intervention as discriminatory confirms that things are getting worse not better.
Speakers include Adam Frogley, the Indigenous Officer of the National Tertiary Education Union, who went on the ACTU fact-finding mission to the NT late 2010, while MAIC is working on getting a representative from the Ballerrt Mooroop aboriginal cultural school in Glenroy to speak about the similarities of Baillieu's attempts to shut down aboriginal schools in Melbourne. Continue the work done by Richard Downs of Ampilatwatja, Harry Nelson of Yuendumu, Djiniyini Gondarra of Elcho Island, Barbara Shaw from MT Nancy Town Camp, John Leemans of Kalkarinji, Rosalie Kunoth Monks from Utopia and others, in spreading news about what is happening to people in the NT.

Were "the military brought to shock and awe indigenous communties in the NT"? No, they were not. They put up tents for doctors & nurses & cooked their meals, gave people lifts to clinics, helped clinic staff & played footy with the locals.
Did "the government ... compulsorily acquire[d] tribal lands"? Yes; it created 5 year leases over the tiny proportion - less than 1% - of tribal lands covered by townships. It did so for reasons associated with equity, fairness, and development of badly needed services, including housing, for the great majority of local residents.
Has the government ever "enforced black and white apartheid lines at supermarkets"? No, this is a completely scurrilous accusation.
Have "[t]housands of jobs ... been cut such as bilingual teachers in the NT that have been made redundant because of bans on aboriginal languages in schools"? No. Some jobs have been cut, but otheres have been created. No "bilingual teachers ... have been made redundant".
No "people [have been] forced to migrate to urban hubs".
