"NAB’s announcement comes one day after we met with senior officials and the indigenous program leader from the bank," said Adrian Burragubba, spokesman for the Wangan and Jagalingou Traditional Owners Family Council in a statement. ... He called on Australia’s two other largest banks, ANZ and Westpac, which have yet to outline their positions on providing funding to the Carmichael project to “confirm without delay they will not support the Carmichael coal mine with finance. ... ”

3 Sep 15: "The Australian Marine Conservation Society has welcomed news that the NAB has ruled out financing Adani’s coal mine, rail and port facilities. The news comes as one of the major customers for Adani’s coal, LG has also rejected buying this coal. Gemma Plesman, AMCS Great Barrier Reef campaigner said that it was time for the Federal Government to accept that this project is not socially or environmentally acceptable. "NAB join 12 other international banks and construction firms, including Commonwealth Bank that have deemed this project to be too risky to invest in. ... ""
