New Matilda: Aboriginal Funding In South Australia: You’re Not Going To Believe Where It’s Going
https://newmatilda.com/2015/06/24/aboriginal-funding-south-australia-you...
24 Jun 15: "Joseph Scales from the Australian Services Union crunched the numbers on the Abbott Government’s Aboriginal affairs funding. We hope you’re sitting down. ... The Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) is the new, glossy social and community services funding stream for Aboriginal people, with $4.8 billion in funding attached to it. This is the largest chunk of funding for Aboriginal people in the Federal Government’s budgets. But a closer look at the detail of this program reveals the cold, hard truth. At the Australian Services Union – SA + NT Branch, we dug beneath the surface of this funding ... " By Joseph Scales, the Secretary of the Australian Services Union (SA + NT Branch). The ASU represents workers in local government, social & community services, energy, airlines, legal, finance and admin and clerical roles.

New Matilda: World's Worst Pitch Of World's Most Ethical Subscription Offer!
https://newmatilda.com/2015/06/23/worlds-worst-pitch-worlds-most-ethical...
23 Jun 15: "Our last subscription offer was a disaster. So we thought re-writing it a bit and re-publishing might help. Last week, we unveiled a new subscription deal which, if we were to be honest, we considered our most genius offer yet. Readers who subscribe to New Matilda at the Keen level or above can nominate an Aboriginal business or not-for-profit, who would then receive free advertising on New Matilda. To put it frankly, the offer bombed. While we greatly appreciate the limited support we did get, it’s by some margin our worst response to a subscription deal since New Matilda changed ownership a year ago. So we thought we’d put it out there one last time… because we believe strongly in the offer.... " By New Matilda

A practical way to clearly show solidarity by our presence
* to the South Australian Aboriginal Communities in dire straits as a result of being defunded by Federal Aboriginal Affairs (Prime Minister&Cabinet).
* to the  Aboriginal organisations also defunded like CASM - the 40 year Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music Adelaide which has fostered so many brilliant performers.

Petition: Restore Funding Needed for SA Aboriginal Communities' Survival
Sisters of Saint Joseph: http://www.sosj.org.au/news-events/view_article.cfm?id=2413&loadref=7
Change.org: https://www.change.org/p/mr-nigel-scullion-minister-for-indigenous-affai...
14 May 15: "How can SA Aboriginal Communities remain open with 90% slashed off the required funding? This is the question that needs asking of the Federal Minister for Indigenous Affairs Nigel Scullion who has repeatedly said of late that he ‘has no intention of closing Aboriginal Communities.’
No organisation, no small business and certainly no Community can stay open when it loses most of its income! SA Aboriginal Communities have been successfully running essential and effective programs for years providing opportunities for training, support, activities for children and youth, employment for local people, and many other types of community programs designed and run for the Communities by the Communities. With no funds for programs and administration /governance, how can Communities remain open? ...
Sign the petition below to restore the IAS [Indigenous Advancement Strategy] funding that South Australian Aboriginal communities require to stay open and sustainable. ... "
