This week's show features stories from NHK World Radio Japan, Radio Havana Cuba, Sputnik Radio, and Radio Deutsche-Welle.
From JAPAN- Austria hosted a third international conference on banning nuclear weapons- the US and UK attended for the first time, but they opposed disarmament proposals. At the UN Conference on Climate Change in Peru, China said they will take a leading role in promoting sustainable development. Private businesses and NGOs joined some countries at the conference in discussing ways to protect forests in developing countries. There were large demonstrations in Lima demanding that countries take immediate measures to stop global warming- indigenous people said that their harmony with nature should be a model. A report from Thursday morning on the shutdown of the Occupy protests in Hong Kong.
From CUBA- A report on the widespread protests in the US over the killing of black men by white police. Argentine forensics experts confirmed that human remains found in southern Mexico are those of 1 of the 43 missing students- however there is controversy since the ashes and part of a bone were handed to them in an open bag by federal authorities, whom the families do not trust.
From RUSSIA- A group claims responsibility for hacking Sony's website- not N Korea as the west accused. N Ireland has accused the Bank of Scotland of criminal fraud. Turkey has proposed mandatory religious classes for young children. Egypt has imposed restrictions on males traveling to stop them from joining jihadist groups. John McCain told the Senate it was a shame that the US has not yet delivered heavy weapons to the new Ukrainian government. Renowned journalist John Pilger spoke out on what he calls "The War By Media," specifically the events and participants in the Ukrainian war. NATO member countries intelligence services warned western governments about the inaccurate estimates of Russian involvement in Ukraine. Then a report on the CIA torture report. When journalist Andy Worthington was asked if in 10 years there might be a similar report about NSA spying, he replied that Obama's use of drones and targeted assassinations would more likely face Senate investigations.
From GERMANY- Two reports on the Senatorial investigation into CIA torture methods, including UN calls for prosecution of senior US officials who authorized the use of torture. The US government has sent 6 prisoners from Guantanamo Bay to Uruguay- the 6 men were arrested in 2002 but never charged with a crime. Hundreds of protestors clashed with police in Greece on the 6th anniversary of the police murder of an unarmed teenager. The EU and UN have called for a transparent investigation into the killing of a Palestinian official by an Israeli during a tree planting protest.

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at http://radio.mediageek.net
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
TIME SLOT on KZYX! This program will be aired on Sunday afternoon at 4pm (PST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via < http://www.kzyx.org >
I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)
