Shadow Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus was among the speakers at a rally and speakout on the steps of the Victorian Parliament House on Saturday 24 May. As announced on this site (http://indymedia.org.au/a-peaceful-gathering-denouncing-a-chilean-crimin...), the action was called to "[denounce] a Chilean criminal living in Australia" - Adriana Rivas [González], whose extradition is sought by the Chilean government to face 'multiple charges of violent crime allegedly committed while she was serving under military dictator Augusto Pinochet's brutal intelligence apparatus'(Foreign Correspondent, ABC TV March 25, 2014 -

Supporters of the campaign for her extradition have been collecting signatures on a petition which the Shadow Attorney-General will be tabling in Federal Parliament shortly.
Other issues raised at the gathering included the appointment as Chilean Ambassador to Australia of James Sinclair, also implicated in the Pinochet dictatorship, which will be subject of a protest in Canberra on June 4 - see https://www.facebook.com/events/628660640556874/?ref=3&ref_newsfeed_stor... - and the continuing repression of the Indigenous Mapuche people (see http://latinamericansolidaritynetwork.org/).
As the action was winding up a procession also arrived at Parliament House, part of the celebrations of Vesak, marking the birth,
passing and enlightenment of the Buddha - see http://www.unvesak.org/eventoverview.htm
