"FOBL matters because of communication issues that arise on a daily basis for the many speakers of Indigenous languages in the Northern Territory.
Major goals of the FOBL group is to support
* the ongoing development and broader use of of interpreting and translating services and provision of training and resources to support them.
* the development of bilingual educational programs for students who speak an Aboriginal language as their first language when they start school. These students will be learning English as their second language for the first time at school."
