This report is an absolute farce and treacherous, because it is done for the purpose of suggesting to the international community that democracy played its part through a process of consultation, but this recent process is absolutely flawed and, instead, represents a dictatorial approach to forcing, against our will, Aboriginal Peoples' patrimony to an invader society.

25 Jun 12: "Lawyers for the traditional land owners at Muckaty in the Northern Territory fear some community members may die before court proceedings against a proposed nuclear waste facility are heard. The Federal Court has decided to adjourn the case against the site until the end of the year. "If it starts leaking it’s going to destroy all the water the animals, the environment we don't really want it there," said Penny Phillips, a traditional owner. Members of the Warl-Manpa community have lived at Muckaty, near Tenant Creek for thousands of years." Liz Kefford

29 Jun 12: "Commenting on the Stronger Futures legislation that passed the Senate last night on the combined vote of Labor and the Coalition, Greens Senator for NSW Lee Rhiannon said there was insufficient evidence to support extending the government’s controversial income management trial to Bankstown.
The Greens tried to vote down the legislation, then tried to remove income management from the bill, but did not receive the support of the other parties.
The Social Security Amendment Bill 2011, which is now law, facilitates a trial of the Northern Territory’s compulsory income management system in five pilot locations around Australia, including Bankstown. ...
Senator Rhiannon in the debate gave details of the growing community opposition to the Income Management policy. More than 50 groups have voiced their opposition to the policy that is increasingly viewed as discriminatory, punitive and top down."
