11th World Wind Energy Conference & Renewable Energy Exhibition WWEC2012
"Community Power – Citizens' Power"
Bonn, Germany, 3-5 July 2012
Call for Papers
The World Wind Energy Association WWEA and the German Wind Energy Association BWE are pleased to invite papers and presentations for the 11th World Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition WWEC2012, taking place 3-5 July 2012 in Bonn, Germany. The conference is aimed at presenting, exchanging and discussing the latest knowledge on the state of wind energy and renewable energy in general, including the state of the technology.
WWEC2012 will feature the special topic of "Community Power – Citizens' Power", referring to the development and ownership of renewable energy projects by local citizens and communities including farmers and landowners, cooperatives, municipalities, local and regional utilities, as well as other partners. Amongst the participants, there will be representatives from local, regional and national governments, international organizations, community power wind farm developers, local and regional utilities, engineers, wind turbine manufacturers and more.

Wind-Tidal-Solar PV Hybrid Power system:
An arrangement is proposed to capture energy simultaneously from flowing water, wind & solar radiation .
The system consists of a Helium filled inflatable Multistage Horizontal axis Reaction wind-turbine-generator, tethered to the bottom of the sea. Besides, an air filled inflatable Multistage Horizontal axis Reaction hydro-turbine-generator, floating just below the water surface, will also be fitted to the above pair of tether.
Shape of both wind & hydro turbine is like a hollow cylindrical body, with blades fitted on its curved surface. Two inflatable wind turbines will be placed on the same horizontal axis. While being rotated by air flow, the front flat-end of the rear wind-turbine, is in contact with a perpendicularly placed small disc gear, which rotates at a higher rpm. This disc is fitted on one end of a stranded cable, which rotates the generator, placed vertically on a floating enclosure, just below the water level & held by the same pair of tether.
Wind-turbine surface embedded with solar Photo-Voltaic cells, transmits electricity to the ground through a slip ring-brush arrangement. Wind-turbine will be positioned around 1 km above water/ground level for tapping higher wind velocity. The arrangement will automatically orient itself in the direction of air & water flow due to its aerodynamic shape.
The electrical energy generated from tidal, wind & solar-PV is transmitted along the tether to a ground station .
Wind & Solar-PV arrangement portion can be used on land, by placing the generator on ground.
