This week's show features stories from China Radio International, NHK Japan, Radio Deutsche-Welle, Radio Havana Cuba, and the Voice of Russia.
From CHINA- Chinese diplomats have visited Libya encouraging a quick political solution to the four month old war. Rupert Murdoch's so-called journalists have been hacking phones to get stories. The Chinese government is blaming US oil company Conoco/Philips for an oil leak that has contaminated over 800 square kilometers off China's eastern coast. China is now the leading investor in renewable energy.
From JAPAN- There are to be new standards, including stress testing, for restarting nuclear power plants in Japan. Residents in Central Japan have called for the immediate decommissioning of a nuclear power plant near an earthquake fault line. The Japanese government plans to complete a detailed survey of radiation in Fukushima prefecture. A survey shows that many in Japan want a shift to new sources of renewable energy.
From GERMANY- In Spain, citizens are taking direct action to stop home evictions and repossessions. Sweden plans to teach Chinese to all primary school students. Germany has been selling military tanks to Saudi Arabia.
From CUBA- After having cancer surgery in Cuba, Hugo Chavez is back in Venezuela to celebrate 200 years of independence from Spain. The Greek Coast Guard is intercepting ships taking relief to Gaza, claiming they are protecting the members of the flotilla. As NATO intensifies its bombing of Libya, Gaddafi forces intercepted a cache of American weapons from Qatar. In Nicaragua, Sandinista Presidential candidate Daniel Ortega is leading in the polls. Despite widespread student protests, Chile will not restrict profits in the business of higher education.
From RUSSIA- Canada is preparing a military exercise in the Arctic as oil, marine, and mineral rights are disputed in the region.

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at http://radio.mediageek.net
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 6:30pm (PDST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via
There are several other streams that work better- Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am.(PDST)
