Energy mismanagements - ecology, economy, irresponsibility

If you see someone filling in a hollow bucket and struggle to get some water to carry, and you say that first one must mend holes and than make an effort to fill in and carry water. The man doing it ignore your advice and talks about the problem with not enough water and does nothing to mend the holes and treat you as you would talk in Marsian language. Would you consider such person sane?

As I see it, everybody starting from the all knowing leaders talk about energy production, clean energy and health of an environment yet they seem not to understand the simple message I pass to them. The photos accessible by above link are self explanatory to all with common sense. Sadly either I am extremely unlucky that nobody on any forum understand or people are commonly brain washed or conditioned to see the world the way politicians see.

Every normal person I know, switch off the lights at home when go to work or shopping. One does not need to think hard about it, it is common sense, either through costs involved, sooner failure of constantly working lamps or ecology or simply why use when you do not need them?

It's likely that some politicians behave similarly at own home. Why they change to unwise creatures as soon as they arrive to work?
Perhaps one reason for that is that it is very easy to spend somebody's money. In this case taxpayers. Especially when nobody will make one accountable at all for that waste.
The other reason may be that the culture of the rulers is to waste in order to create side business and get support.
It is complex but imagine politician doing all right. One only get support of sensible people and people with sensible businesses. But if politician appear to do right but deliberately allow lots of wrongs, than in case of energy waste like shown here, the power plants have some more work, the sale of globes is supported, the maintenance people have more work and so on.

Whatever is explanation, the waste is self evident and is an anti-social, is a form of fraud.

On the photos are mainly lamps as we call them street lamps. But I start to add whole lots of other public lamps also not needed to be on 24/7.

A short history of the problem.
Number of years ago say 8-10 in Adelaide talk back radio, the VIP of energy (mis)management have said that they do care (usual lies) on efficiency of energy management and will pay $10 for each faulty lamp which is not fixed within 5 working days since report.
The next day I've reported over 50 fully on lamps on one street. I was not paid for them nor for hundreds or even thousands of other lamps I've reported. And week by week, months by month, year by year they are fully on until there is a need to replace them.
I gave up when some 2-3 years ago minister responsible for that have told me that it is my not his problem.

Then I estimated that up to 5% of all Adelaide metro lamps are fully on 24/7. Today the number is close to 10%. There is definite progress in that matter.

All the media I turned to like The Messenger, The Advertiser, The ABC, the 5AA, and any other I turned to, do not want to know about it in sense to publish it. Is it a conspiracy? Yes it is. Simple Democratic rule of dictatorship disallow media to upset government.
I remember when I phoned number of years to the Messenger the government run free newspaper, and told the reporter about this problem. She looked through her window and said: oh,yes we have such lamp in front of our office. Her boss did not allow her to publish this. Now years later as you may see on the photo, the lamp is still on in front of this media.

We do have power shortage and power cuts because we have insufficient supply and overloaded system. There is large number of such lamps including on open parkings and car dealers yards which are absolutely unwanted 24/7/365.

Last summer I've visited Melbourne and paid attention to street lamps. I counted on one hand fingers the fully on lamps on any given day driving across Melbourne metro. Do lamps behave better in Melbourne or politicians are more sensible?

Nobody in Canberra understand that I am MP that is member of a public and they are my servants and I demand them to make and order and not waste energy. I have to change such a useless servants I think. Unless public servant is just a name and everything is exactly opposite to claimed.

The energy wastage is obvious, transmission line overload and equipment failure is another, the energy shortage and unnecessary costs, extra pollution and demoralisation of children are among consequences.
When children grow in an environment of wastage, they study and start to work in planning and managerial positions and as politicians, they will continue to waste energy no matter how much you provide.

What is the solution?
We have to realise why it happens:
1. Government is absolutely not accountable for anything
2. Media is not free and this is major contributor to antisocial government
3. Society allow to be manipulated and brain washed.

I'm sure if minister "responsible" for that would have to pay from own money, this would never happen.

If I can appeal to Australians to report similar cases of clear wastage,to demand our politicians to assume responsibility, we all will be better off.

On theme of energy management, in Australia it is huge wastage and sorry bad attitude towards it. Starting from huge and inefficient cars to exceptionally bad home insulation.

It is up to us to demand government to improve.
Simple and easy spots of wastage include single glazed windows (I've heard insane arguments of trade people arguing that we do not need), floors, walls and ceilings. Improvement in those areas will make homes slightly more expensive to built but also it will create real jobs, the jobs which are truly needed.

Housing trust homes should have such efficiency measures introduced firsts. The occupants are usually poor or mentally not very capable. Similarly the rented homes should have mandatory best energy efficiency insulations, most efficient water heating and so on. Owners may have a choice of less efficient but tenants should have best efficiency as priority.

Finally as an example of how easy is to change the culture and thinking, if government had sensible leaders, they would introduce registration fees for passenger cars which would depend on the weight of the car. This would address the pollution, safety, and traffic efficiency. The lighter the car the cheaper and improvement on all above factors and more room for cyclists. If you had to pay twice as much registration for 2000kg car as for 1000kg,than it would work. Same with motorcycles. Cyclists should have medicare discounts.
