Free West Papuan political prisoners ACTION

Date and Time:
Fri, 08/04/2011 -
11:00am to 2:00pm
Location:
Indonesian Consulate Melbourne 78 Queens rd

Demand the release of all political prisoners in West Papua!

There are many West Papuan political prisoners in Indonesian jails, given long sentences under the absurd charge of 'makar' - for peaceful assembly, raising the West Papuan flag or being present when this flag was raised. We ask that they all be released as free speech should never be a crime.

Did you know that the company HRL is planning to build a new coal-fired power station in Victoria?

Incredibly, the state and federal governments have committed to give $150million of public money to this project. The Environmental Protection Agency is due to rule on HRL's "Works Approval" application for the proposed 600MW plant sometime in early May. The EPA received a record 4000+ objections to HRL's application, but there's still a strong chance that the plant will be approved.
