Alice Springs Day of Action against forced community closures

On Sunday June 28 over 100 people gathered in Alice Springs for a Day of Action in response to forced community closures happening in WA and NT. The messages for the day were 'Stand up for people, country and culture. End the NT Intervention. Stop forced community closures.'

29th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award

The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory is proud to announce the 29th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award will open on Friday, 10 August, 2012.

Call for entries is now open.

$40,000 will be awarded to the work considered by judges to be the most outstanding work in the exhibition.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder, and the racism that impedes advancement by Aboriginal peoples and the enrichment of multiculturalism

It is sadly unbelievable and appalling in the fact that those with the capacity for change and progress argue that they are lost for solutions. Steve Pennells writes a good descriptive piece, page 28 June 11 in The West Australian, however despairingly quotes the confounded WA Indigenous Affairs Minister Peter Collier, the WA Nationals Brendan Grylls and Kalgoorlie MP John Bowler. In terms of Aboriginal disparity they agree that they do not know what the solutions are. How dare Peter Collier maintain the Indigenous Affairs portfolio?

Stop Martin Ferguson dumping on traditional owners: Northcote Town Hall, 21 April 10

Federal Resources and Energy Minister Martin Ferguson's ears should have been burning on Wednesday evening as speakers at an information evening at Northcote Town Hall attacked his perverse obsession with building a nuclear waste dump on Indigenous land at Muckaty in the Northern Territory.
