On April 24, 2013, 1,129 garment workers died in the collapse of the Rana Plaza complex in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This anniversary will be marked by the inaugural Fashion Revolution Day. Fashion Revolution Day is about starting a conversation about the fashion industry, in particular the role of fast fashion and the unfair and unsafe working conditions these clothes are made in.

A Real Fashion Revolution

Local Perth women Alysha Harkins and Gilliane Burford have launched a major campaign so you can wear your “Made in Bangladesh” clothes with pride.

As founders of new non-profit, MADEgram, the two have joined the crowdfunding revolution to raise the funds to develop an app to bring about lasting change in the Bangladesh garment industry.

Government racism razes Swan Valley Nyungah Community

by Gerry Georgatos - March 18th, 2014 - In breaking news, the Western Australian State Government sent in demolition contractors to raze the vacant residences of the Swan Valley Nyungah Community. Emotions ran high among former residents, many of whom remain homeless. They only learned of the demolition as it was happening such was the clandestine nature of the Government’s underhandedness.
