2015 Perrin Park Multicultural Festival – to be held at Perrin Park Toowong:
Saturday, 22th August 2015, 10am – 2:30pm as part of Queensland Multicultural Week.
Now in its 3rd year operating (previously known as Brisbane West Cultural Expo); the Perrin Park Multicultural Festival aims to recognise and celebrate local and international communities residing in the Brisbane West Region – including Toowong, Indooroopilly, Taringa, St Lucia, West End, Auchenflower and other surrounding suburbs.
Attracting between 1,000-1,500 people from all walks of life; the festival is a great opportunity to be part of a local community; celebrating and sharing diversity and heritage though the arts and culture: including music, dance, performances, market stalls, recreational activities, and offers a diverse range of delicious and healthy food experiences for the day.
“Up to 30% of residents living in this area are born overseas, and almost 10,000 are international students.” (Census 2011) The organising committee is comprised of people from local community groups and multicultural associations with a direct connection to the area.
This event is funded by the Queensland Government through the Valuing Diversity Grants Program and Brisbane City Council through Black Diamond Partnership and the Lord Mayors Suburban Initiative Fund.
Run by volunteers and hard-working members of the community who believe in the value of cultural diversity; the Festival Committee would like to invite the people of Brisbane – and the Brisbane West area to be part of the cultural celebrations; acknowledging the traditional owners of this land, our heritage, and the rich and diverse heritage of people that make up this beautiful multicultural community that we live.
