Activists breach secret military base

At 6am this morning, four Christian peace activists entered Swan Island, one ofAustralia’s most secret military installations near Queenscliff, Victoria, seeking to disrupt the war in Afghanistan.

“Both Swan Island and the war on Afghanistan are out of sight, out of mind. It’s time to end further suffering of the Afghan people and our soldiers by bringing our troops home,” the group said.

Swan Island is a highly secretive military installation used by the Army’s elite Special Air Service (SAS) and the Australian Secret Intelligence Service (ASIS). Swan Island is said to be more secretive than Pine Gap in central Australia.

“In the week before the first Easter, Jesus blockaded the temple and turned the tables inside. Today we are imitating Jesus’ disruption”, the group said. “Sometimes you have to get in the way of injustice”.

“War can’t bring peace, it can only bring further terror, death and poverty,” the group said.

Rev. Simon Moyle (Baptist Minister), Jacob Bolton (Community Worker), Jessica Morrison (University Lecturer) and Simon Reeves (Social Worker) have called themselves the Bonhoeffer Peace Collective after Kevin Rudd’s favourite theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was also an antiwar activist.

“The followers of Christ have been called to peace. And they must not only have peace but also make it. His disciples keep the peace by choosing to endure suffering themselves rather than inflict it on others. In so doing they overcome evil with good, and establish the peace of God in the midst of a world of war and hate.”— Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Peacekeeper: someone who keeps the peace, subverting anything that would cause disruptions
Peacemaker: someone who makes the peace, dealing with issues until there is peace

I believe our soldiers (and other allies) are about peacemaking, attempting to remove those that would intimidate and subvert other people into living lives which are not 'free', but subject to laws and restraints which bring bondage. Christ is freedom. Yes, we are free to worship and protest in this country, but others are not. Whether they be in Afghanistan, China, Iraq, Egypt and many other countries, Christians are not free to worship or spread the good news of the Gospel of Christ. I believe that this is one of the many things our military is fighting for.

@michelle
the military is NOT fighting for Christ. never was, never will.
the military is fighting on behalf of a satanic agenda - wars are large scale human blood sacrifices for the devil.

....capitalism is built on it, is fed by it. Hideously, that's all it's good for. It's Western culture's mainspring.

War is not about principles, it's about interests.

Subliminal bloodlust and inability to think for themselves drives people into the anonymous, legalised killing machine. Or they are too lazy to learn decent jobs.

I assume that most are acting out the violence and lack of nurturing perpetrated on them as children.

our troops are not fighting at all they are there to protect the people of afganistan and to re build the country they are there to help the people of the aruzgan province and you selfish people belive that they are there fighting for satan well here's news
They are helping everyday people like you and me and provideing protection to these people so that they can go about their lives without fear of persecution a right that we as australians enjoy everday is it not a rightious enough cause to spead freedom. I for one am willing to serve in afganistan so that others may enjoy even a taste of what we take for granted
SHAME ON YOU

Cveryone claims they are Creating peace when thye go to war.
Hitler's plan was to usher in a thousand year reign of peace by creating a better world - Gettign rid of evil (such as Jews and communists).
But WAR IS NOT PEACE! Jesus said put away yur sword.
Christians cannot uspport the war in Afghanistan - or any war.
But they can support nonviolent resistance such as that of the Bonhoffer group!
Well done folks!

our troops are helping the afganistan'i people providing them with shelter protection and the knowlage they need to ensure there future i find you a selfish and self absorbed person and if you were a good cristian you would stop slandering our diggers and help them not hinder them your veiw of the world is warped get a grip on yourself. jesus would be proud of our soldiers for the work they do and the sacrafices they make to protect the people of afganistan from those who would wish them harm
SHAME ON YOU JIM DOWLING

So if these guys were Muslim and had beards, it'd be terrorism, right? Pitty the SAS weren't there...

our military is fighting a war, that is motivated by oil greed. it will in no way ever achieve peace, for anyone. why do we need to dominate other countries to worship christ freely when we already can? and no one can actully stop worship... its in the heart. war kills people and innocence.... so does satan. think about it. its a no brainer.

go Bonhoeffer Peace Collective!! seriously!

Good reason borse replica
