"We can wait no longer to reclaim the Aboriginal rights struggle, to reclaim the Aboriginal voice. Our old people have waited their whole lives and have had their expectations betrayed... Our people are dying far too young – in unprecedented numbers and rates. The Freedom Summit came together over two days in Alice Springs in the last week of November. Now we have a movement and we’re carrying the call for our people’s justice," said Freedom Movement spokesperson and Chair of the Narrunga People, Tauto Sansbury.

"This movement has brought great hope to my heart for the first time in a long time. I am overwhelmed and emotional by the support and by the numbers of our people who are heading to Canberra… We are cultured people, we are dignified people," said Freedom Movement spokesperson and Arrernte Elder, Rosalie Kunoth-Monks.
