Brisbane will keep tradition alive this Sunday holding its 31st annual Palm Sunday Rally for Peace and Nuclear Disarmament.
With the LNP taking the reins of government and uranium miners are already spruiking Queensland’s uranium resource potential, the issues are as relevant as ever,” states co-ordinator Joan Shears, who has been involved in the event since 1981.
“In the shadow of the ongoing disaster at Fukushima, Queenslanders, and all Australians, need to consider what role we wish to play in global nuclear power and weapons proliferation.”
“We call on political parties to ensure that neither Queensland nor Australia ever fuels another nuclear nightmare here or overseas. It is time to both ban uranium mining and to refuse support for US nuclear weapons-capable military might.”

On the plaque where the first Chinese nuclear bomb was exploded in the summer of 1964 there is a written message and it goes something like this, China acquires the knowledge of nuclear weapons and technology for the soul and only purpose of dismantling all nuclear weapons globally. Also that China will never be the first to use nuclear weapons.
The foreign policy of the Peoples Republic of China says that China will host or be hosted at a political meeting of all countries possessing nuclear weapons, with one item on the agenda; the complete, thorough and total dismantling of all nuclear weapons globally.
With the consequent happening of Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima it has been necessary to further extrapolate that as the five hundred nuclear fission, nuclear power plants have been proven accident prone and the waste uncontainable it has therefore proven to be a failed technology of the twentieth century, and should now be put down and closed, each and every plant globally.
It is a ball face lie that nuclear energy is clean and unpolluted. The waste product is even now contaminating the air, land, and water of the world, and not for small amounts of time but for thousands, millions, and in some cases for billions of years. Do you want to leave a legacy of pollution and destruction by pollution of the air, land, and water for the comming generations?
It is not the way forward whereas the solution is apparent in Re-tooling the industrial Revolution to the renewables such a wind, tidal, and solar power that transforms to electricity, and is more power than can be used by society. No more blackouts. This non-pollution solution is given freely in natures kinder laws and provides work for all and forever more.
End pollution wars, not endless wars for more and more pollution. Workers of the world, unite!! You yet have a world to win!!
