24 May 14: "The Western Australian Government’s $1.3 billion native title offer to the ‘Noongar/Nyungah’ peoples of the south west and the body that has been negotiating the proposal, the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC) continue to take a battering from an increasing number of Elders and community leaders. The proposal will soon head to the authorisation meetings but many believe that less than 10 per cent of those eligible may vote. Land and Culture worker, Iva Hayward-Jackson has criticised the SWALSC for failing to negotiate protections for sacred and historical sites." 16 May 14: "The single native title deal for the whole of the south west of Western Australia offered by the State Government to the Noongar (Bibbullmun) peoples will soon head to the six regional authorisation meetings. The Western Australian mainstream media - broadcast and print - has not given a run to a single dissenting voice, despite that the dissenters appear to be the majority, while the media have been awash with the Government’s position and with the comments of the minority supporters of the proposal. But with high profile individuals such as the CEO of the Aboriginal Legal Services, Dennis Eggington in opposition to the native title deal ... 16 May 14: "The processes surrounding the Western Australian Government’s 1.3 billion dollar native title offer through the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC) continue to be challenged but by no-one as so deeply as Toogarr Morrison. Long-serving cultural researcher and artist, Mr Morrison says the map the State Government and SWALSC are working with is incorrect and leaves custodians and descendants stranded and confused. Mr Morrison has disputed the cultural and demographical definitions and references around the deal, saying there are no ‘Noongar nations’ but a Bibbullmun nation, ... 24 May 14: "Last week, the Western Australian Government’s 1.3 billion dollar native title offer through the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC) to the ‘Noongar’ peoples was clouded by the challenge from cultural researcher, Toogarr Morrison, that the concept of a Noongar nation of 13 clans is White construct and that instead all those who thought they were Noongars are in fact Bibbullmun. Others have now come out in support of Mr Morrison’s claims, including high profile ‘Noongar’ rights advocate, Marianne Mackay. "Uncle Toogarr is right. We are Bibbullmun," said Ms Mackay."
