The Stringer: WA Government supports end to suicide crisis but ironically cuts funding!

15 Nov 13: "A motion has been passed unanimously by the Western Australian State Government for a new focus on the suicide epidemic blighting Western Australia. WA has the highest rates of suicide in the nation with the crisis particularly throughout the Kimberley region, but at the same time funding to evidence-based community driven programs to fight suicide have been cut. Kimberley parliamentarian, Kija woman Josie Farrer has been consistently outspoken about the need for more to be done to save lives. Ms Farrer has also lost a grandchild to suicide, only a a few years ago." By Gerry Georgatos, a life-long human rights and social justice campaigner, a multi-award winning investigative journalist

* GERRY GEORGATOS, THE STRINGER: FAMILY OF 15 ARE BEING EVICTED FROM THEIR HOME BY DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING

The Stringer: Family of 15 are being evicted from their home by Department of Housing

29 Nov 13: "In Western Australia, the high drama of families being tossed on to the streets continues because of the controversial three-strikes-behaviour management policy - another large family about to be evicted. ... there are young children; infants and toddlers. The hard line three-strikes rule introduced only 18 months ago has seen a huge rise in evictions - more than double. Aboriginal families are disproportionately hit, but everyone, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, is suffering, and with a significant proportion of those evicted finishing up homeless." By Gerry Georgatos, a life-long human rights and social justice campaigner, a multi-award winning investigative journalist

ABC Radio National - Breakfast: Northern Territory's hardline eviction policy raises concerns
Presented by Fran Kelly; Reporter Cathy Van Extel

12 Nov 13: "The Northern Territory Government has been accused of fast-tracking evictions in order to sell off public housing stock. As Matt O'Neil writes, there has been a blowout in the number of vacant housing commission homes in Alice Springs, despite a long waiting list. Indigenous and social welfare advocates have raised concerns about an increase in public housing evictions in Alice Springs, which could leave many people homeless. ...
Guests:
* Mychelle Curran, Deputy Chief Executive, NT Department of Housing
* Jonathon McCarthy, Senior civil lawyer, Central Australian Aboriginal Legal Aid Service
* David Havercroft, Central Australia Policy Officer, Northern Territory shelter"

* GERRY GEORGATOS, THE STRINGER: THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN EVICTED - NOWHERE TO GO

- Analysis / Opinion

The Stringer: Thousands of children evicted - nowhere to go
http://thestringer.com.au/thousands-of-children-evicted-nowhere-to-go/
18 Nov 13: "Recently in Western Australia, an 86-year-old grandmother, an Aboriginal lady, was threatened with eviction for non-payment of a state-housing water bill. Her eviction has only been stalled by the intervention of Kimberley parliamentarian, Kija woman Josie Farrer. Recently, two Perth families, once again Aboriginal, with 9 children and 11 children were evicted from their homes. Western Australian State Governments have a bent for mandatory laws – such as the three-strikes behaviour-management policy for state-housing residents. Thousands of children have been evicted, but where do they go to?" By Gerry Georgatos, a life-long human rights and social justice campaigner, a multi-award winning investigative journalist
