In December last year, the Wilderness Society with Walmadan (James Price Point) Traditional Owner, Richard Hunter, took the Western Australian Environmental Protection Agency to the Supreme Court over their approval process of the proposed gas plant at James Price Point. Today, we received confirmation that our case was successful! The development at James Price Point is now dead and buried. 19 Aug 13: "This morning, the Goolarabooloo celebrated a victory in the Supreme Court that they say will protect Country for future generations. The Goolarabooloo celebrated the Western Australian Court ruling against the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) for approvals it had granted to the dumped Woodside-led joint venture on the liquified natural gas hub. Goolarabooloo Senior Law Boss, Richard Hunter had initiated legal action to overturn the granting of the approvals prior to the venture being dumped by the Woodside-led group, but Mr Hunter continued the legal action so as to ensure that Goolarabooloo Country remained "sacred for future generations."" 19 Aug 13: "The Australian Greens today called for WA Premier Colin Barnett to finally abandon attempts to industrialise James Price Point in the Kimberley after the Supreme Court's decision to uphold an appeal against the environmental approvals of the now-abandoned LNG processing hub.
"This decision shows that the WA Government has trashed our environmental decision making process to drive their industrial agenda," Senator Rachel Siewert said today.
"Clearly there were deep flaws in the EPA and WA Government's processes when it came to assessing James Price Point for development. ...
"I congratulate Mr Hunter and the Wilderness Society for pursuing this legal action, clearly the environmental assessment process was flawed as many pointed out at the time," concluded Senator Siewert."

19 Aug 13: "Greens WA Member for the Mining and Pastoral Region, Robin Chapple MLC, today welcomed the decision by the Chief Justice to uphold the Wilderness Society case against the validity of the approvals process around the James Price Point (JPP) gas hub development.
“This very good decision removes the last vestige of cover from the shameful maneuverings and posturing of the Barnett/Grylls Liberal/National government in its attempts to railroad its preferred position through the environmental oversight process.
"There has been a litany of mistakes made by the government through this whole sorry affair.
"From the botched compulsory acquisition, to the use of the Development Assessment Panel (DAP) to override local wishes, to the Premier’s pressuring then-environment Minister Marmion into allowing the flawed Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) decision to stand - it has been a disaster from start to finish.
"And unfortunately this is not the finish - because the Premier continues to stick to his dogged personal campaign to open up the Kimberley to all sorts of inappropriate development. ... ""
