The issue of stolen wages continues in Queensland - with Katter Australian Party organsing a rally to demand repayment by the Queensland Government. The government routinely withheld wages from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from the early 1900's until the 1970's. ... The latest rally was organised by KAP. Queensland correspondent Stefan Armbruster was there. He's speaking with Michelle Lovegrove."

17 Apr 13: "The Katter Australian Party (KAP) is taking the side of Indigenous Queenslanders, calling on the state's crime watchdog to investigate why $20 million in stolen wages has not been paid back. But Queensland's Labor government in 2009 closed claims for stolen wages in 2009 and the current Liberal National government says it won't revisit the issue. "We're calling on this government to come clean, to provide that amount to them that is owing, and recognise the contribution that they made to building up our country," MP Robbie Katter told SBS."

The Queensland Labor government in 2009 closed claims for stolen wages reparations and the remaining 21-million was transferred to an Indigenous education trust fund. 18 Apr 13: "NATIONAL: Indigenous health will not be on the agenda at the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) meeting tomorrow but the Gillard government claims it will put in $777 million in renewed funding to close the gap. The federal government did not state in its press release whether this was new funding. The Closing the Gap campaign earlier this week called on the government to sign off on a new national partnership agreement on Indigenous heath before the current plan expires in June."
