Event: Sat 20 April 2013: Locations all over Australia!
Junk for Justice - The Wilderness Society Kimberley Campaign
"Promote your garage sale to thousands of people
via an interactive map on the Junk for Justice
Facebook page."
"You can also find other garage sales in your area to visit.
In return, we ask that you donate a fair portion of your
day's profit to the Wilderness Society to help us cover
the costs of our court case against the West Australian
Environmental Protection Authority. Together, we can
stop bulldozers destroying beautiful James Price
Point on the Kimberley coast."
"The Wilderness Society's historic court case is primarily
against the Western Australian Environment Minister and
state's Environmental Protection Authority (the case is
about the assessment of the precinct, rather than
Woodside's project in particular). We’ll be seeking
immediate legal advice about the implications of today’s
announcement [12 April 2013], but at this stage we believe
it’s still important to pursue our case in the Supreme Court."

Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists."
"Ghost Citizens looks at the return to protectionist
policy and the willful diminishing of an
Indigenous participatory voice
- the loss of citizenship rights;
of the right to homelands;
and self-determination."
"Vernon Ah Kee, Alison Alder, Bindi Cole,
Fiona Foley, Dan Jones, Chips Mackinolty,

emerging Indigenous artists with disabilities."
"The exhibition includes artists from
Ngaruwanajirri on Bathurst (Tiwi) Island,
Mwerre Anthurre Artists, based at Bindi Inc. in Alice Springs
and Julalikari Arts in Tennant Creek."
"It is envisioned that this exhibition will work towards
raising the profile of artists who too often are
placed into a narrow 'art therapy' model,
yet their practice is often groundbreaking."

"With each successive Vigil on the eve of Anzac Day,
our contemplation of the sufferings in Australia’s war
involvements is deepening, with particular recognition
and sorrow for the ongoing trauma to Aboriginal peoples
in the wake of Australia’s Frontier Wars; ...
This year, a ceremonial focus is the kindling of the
Peace Fire at the Aboriginal Memorial, embers of
which will light the lanterns and Welcome to Country
ceremony at the top of Mt. Ainslie, light the community
gathering and smoking ceremony at Remembrance Park,
and light the walkers’ way to the all-night Peace Vigil

Exhibition now showing:
First Australians - Resistance
"The lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
peoples were profoundly changed by the arrival
of British colonists in 1788. Lives were lost
and land taken as the colonisers attempted to
impose new social, economic and religious
orders. ... "
"Indigenous people responded in a variety of ways.
Some fought back with weapons. Others
developed different strategies to survive this
new and hostile presence."
"Here we present four of these stories."

The value of qualitative data for articulating
the social impacts of native title
Presented by: Pam McGrath
CAEPR Seminar
Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research
Australian National University
"I argue that although qualitative research on its own
has limited strategic value given the short
timeframes of many legal reform agendas,
when conducted over time as part of a longer-term
strategic partnership with native title organisations,
qualitative data can provide crucial insights into
social experience that have the potential to shift
entrenched assumptions of policy makers."

Trail as a trigger to encourage the members of the
Goolarabooloo community to be walking the Country
again, as had always been done; to conserve;
renew and stay connected with their heritage and
traditional skills and to keep the same alive for
generations to come. He also sought to wake up
non-Aboriginal people to a relationship with the land;
to foster trust; friendship and empathy between the
indigenous community and the wider Australian
and International communities."

"When you look at the events which are significant to
Aboriginal people you’ll notice that their recent history
is one of a fight for rights, land and recognition.
It is also a history of sadness, loss and denial."
