F.A.R.T. (Forest Art Renaissance Team) banner drop in Tassie

Forest Art Renaissance Team - Media Release Sunday 16th August 2009

This morning the Forest Art Renaissance Team (FART) dropped a banner reading “Gunns’ Greed = Climate Chaos” on the Gunns construction crane on Collins Street in Hobart CBD.

Hinmann Wright and Manser, a division of the highly destructive Gunns Ltd, were quick to remove the 20m long art piece fearing that there may be awareness raised about the connection between Hinman, Gunns and Tasmania’s forest destruction.

“Gunns Ltd are contributing massively to the global climate change crisis, allowing thousands of tons of Carbon Dioxide to be released into the atmosphere every year while destroying a resource that is clearly worth more left standing. ” Said a F.A.R.T. spokesperson.

“Constructing a concrete jungle in one part of Tasmania, and destroying pristine parts of carbon dense old growth forest in the other, there is no reprieve, not even on a Sunday.” Said a F.A.R.T. spokesperson.

“As a company that prides themselves for creating Potato Storage Sheds in Ulverstone, and lays claim to having built all KFC stores throughout Tasmania, Hinmann should seriously consider limiting their heavy machinery to making hot chips and not woodchips” said a F.A.R.T. spokesperson.
